Experienced General Service Unit (GSU) center player Shadrack Musiko says inexperience was their main undoing at the just ended African Clubs Championship in Libya.
GSU who were returning at the event after missing the bonanza for four years placed ninth in a 23-clubs that saw hosts Swehly Sports Club win the title.
Kenya other representatives, Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) and National League champions Kenya Prisons ranked in the 10th and 18 respectively.
Musiko said they would have performed better were it not for inexperience but was quick to note that their focus switches to the National League and Kenya Cup titles.
Musiko said four players in the team were making their maiden appearance at the event.
“We would have reached semi-final, but it was never the case as we had new players in the team who didn’t have exposure. But that should not be an excuse. We just need to go back to the drawing and get everything right ahead of the play-offs and Kenya Cup,” said the national team player.
GSU and Prisons jetted back in the country from Libya on Wednesday while KPA are scheduled to jet back on Saturday.
