Bronze medalist Kenya Pipeline, KCB Women’s Volleyball Team and Kenya Prisons are among the 21 teams drawn from across African that have pre-registered for the forthcoming African Clubs Championship set for April 1-14 in Abuja, Nigeria.
KCB and Prisons qualified automatically for the annual event after finishing in the first and second positions respectively during the Kenya Volleyball Federation women’s National League, while Pipeline qualified for the event for finishing third in the last edition that was held in Egypt.
Zamalek Sporting Club defended the title, while Al Ahly finished second.
The Kenyan representatives will be hoping to improve on the last year’s event that was hosted in Egypt where KCB finished fourth with Prisons settling for fifth position.
Other clubs that will take part in the 14-day event are Rwanda Revenue Authority, Patriotic Army of Rwanda and Rwanda Police from Rwanda,Forces Armees Et Police,Litto Team Volleyball and Maya Kane Evolution all from Cameroon,Queens Volleyball Club from Benin,Club Omnisports Descartes from Cote dvoire, and Club Feminin De Carthage from Tunisia.
Others are National Alcohol and Liquor from Ethiopia,Volleyball Club La Grace, and Volleyball Club LA LOL are from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Sococim Volleyball club(Senegal), As Dounes Volleyball Club (Burundi), champions Zamalek Sporting Club and Al Ahly Sporting Club are from Egypt, while hosts Nigeria Customs Service and Spiking Stars Volleyball Club from South Sudan
