Rift Valley Prisons team manager Viola Lamuria says her team was work in progress after losing to Equity Bank 3-0 (25-13,25-23,25-18) during the second leg of the Kenya Volleyball Federation Men’s National League at the Nyayo National Stadium, outdoor courts, Nairobi on Friday.
The official said that they were losing, but the set scores were encouraging and promising. “I can’t fault the players because I know they are putting in the work considering it’s a relatively young team. In the current squad, we only have like three experienced players with the majority coming from Secondary School. Again, we have been nurturing the players and at the end, they move to other Prisons teams which is very good. That shows that we are doing something good,” said Lamuria.
“Most of our opponents are established and matching them in every department was something to be proud of. But all in all,we are keen to perform well in the league and hopefully in future, we will qualify for the National League play-offs but for now,” she added.
Rift Valley will play Kenya Forest Service on Saturday before they wrap up their weekend tour with the match against compatriots Kenya Prisons.
Rift Valley are eighth with three points from four matches in a 16-League team.
