Kenya under 20 women’s volleyball team Sunday evening completed a double against Egypt 3-0(25-19,25-19,25-23) to qualify for the African Nations Volleyball championship final to be played on Monday.
With the win, the side coached former Kenyan International Jackline Barasa qualified for the next year’s FIVB World Championship.
The top three teams at the end of the six-nations championship will qualify for the Worlds.
Kenya will play the winner between Senegal and host Cameroon in the tie that was expected to be played on Sunday night.
Kenya had defeated the North Africans 3-1 in the preliminary round before they completed a double in the semi.
Egypt will wait to play the loser between Senegal and Cameroon to play for a third place.
Once again hard-hitting KCB Women’s volleyball Team opposite hitter Marlyn Terry was voted the Player of the Match.
Kenya Volleyball Federation Deputy President Paul Bitok lauded the junior Malkia Strikers for the remarkable performance.
