Defending champions Kenya Pipeline women’s volleyball team will be the only Kenyan team at the upcoming Confederation of Africa Volleyball (CAVB) Zone V Clubs Championships set for February 26 to March 4 at the Lugogo arena, Uganda.
During the last edition that was held in Rwanda in 2023, the Oilers defeated Rwanda Revenue Authority 3-0 in the final to win the title.
Pipeline will be out to defend the title under new coach Geoffrey Omondi who crossed over Trailblazers taking over the baton from Paul Gitau.
Omondi was optimistic of a better ending saying they will use the event as a build up to the forthcoming Africa Clubs Championship in Nigeria in April.
“We are leaving no stone unturned as we prepare for the Zone V. We want to retain the title as that will give us the push and morale ahead of the Clubs Championship. Pipeline finished third in the last edition that was held in Egypt and we want to go one better and even dare challenge for the title. It’s not going to be easy but we are putting in the work,” said Omondi.
