National women’s volleyball team, Malkia Strikers coach Geoffrey Omondi says the composition of the current team was capable of taking the Country to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.
Omondi spoke after Kenya beat Vietnam 3-0(25-23,25-20,25-18) in their FIVB World Championship last pool “G” match in Phuket, Thailand on Wednesday.
Omondi said he had come under backlash after selecting a relatively new team saying he has been vindicated.
“This is the team to take us to the Olympic. What they need is just proper training and more International friendly matches against top ranked teams and I believe they can win matches at the Games. I’m happy that the faith I had in the team have bored fruits, “said Omondi.
“I return home with a lot of positives and more so how the sport has evolved. The technical, technique and scientific approach of the match. The championship has been an eye opener and there is need to invest in the various technology, “he added.
