Kenya women’s volleyball team, junior Malkia strikers pair of the Milka Akinyi and Marlyn Terry were named in the African Volleyball Nations Championship Dream Team that ended on Monday night.
Akinyi was named the best Out side hitter, while Terry was named the best opposite hitter and Most Valuable Player, of the six-nations event that ended in Yaoundé, Cameroon.
Kenya, Cameroon and Egypt all qualified for the next year’s World Championship at a yet to be decided venue.
Terry and Akinyi were outstanding in the entire championship but more so during the final where Kenya beat host Cameroon 3-1 to clinch the title.
Other players who made it to the dream team were Elazhary Farah from Egypt,best setter Ottou Mebenga from Cameroon, best middle blocker Simon Mogue and Souita Isabel from Cameroon and Elhenawy Farah from Egypt.
After the completion of the U-20 Women’s championship, the stage is set for the men’s Under-21 African Nations championship that will be hosted in Egypt in September.
