Kenya under 20 women’s volleyball team are the African Nations Volleyball champions that ended on Monday night in Yaoundé, Cameroon.
Kenya defeated host Cameroon 3-1(26-24,19-25,28-26,25-16) to qualify for the next year’s World Championship.
It was sweet revenge for the East Africans who had lost to the host in the preliminary match.
Kenya, Cameroon and Egypt all qualified for the Worlds by virtue of finishing in the first, second and third positions respectively.
Egypt beat Senegal in third -place play-off in the six nations tournament.
Kenya Volleyball Federation deputy president Paul Bitok thanked the Ministry of sport for their timely support.
“We thank the clubs and Schools who are our other partners. We celebrate the junior Malkia Strikers for their emphatic win and qualifying for the world championship. We celebrate you and we are super proud of you,” said Bitok.
