Kenya Volleyball Federation national League (KVF) Most Valuable Player (MVP) Daisy Jepleting and Kenya Cup MVP Terry Tata are among the 12 players that were selected by the U-20 technical bench ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations women’s championship in Cameroon.
The champion is set for August 3-12 in Yaounde.
Jepleting plays for National League champions Kenya Pipeline, while Tata turns up for Kenya Cup winners KCB Women’s Volleyball Team.
The team was named on Wednesday at the Nyayo National stadium in Nairobi.
Jepleting and Tata will still be available for selection in the Malkia Strikers squad to the upcoming FIVB World Championship on August 22 to September 7 in Thailand.
Other players are Eddah Jepkemei,Milka Akinyi,Mary Nanjala,Daisy Chepkirui,Benta Oluoch,Sharon Akinyi, Patricia,Sheila Wabwile,Esabella Nafula and Sharon Jepkosgei.
The team that has been facilitated by the Ministry of Sports and the National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOC-K) will jet out of the Country this Saturday 9am aboard Ethiopian Airline through to Togo (Lome) then Yaoundé.
KVF second vice president and U-20 team manager Kenneth Tonui said the players are in high spirits ahead of the championship.
“The team has been training at Nyayo National stadium for a while now and they are good to go. We are hoping for a better result. NOC-K and the ministry have been supportive, and we thank them. The team will jet back to the country on August 12 and therefore Tata and Jepleting have a chance to be named in the Malkia Strikers who will jet out of the country on August 15,” said Tonui.
