Three Kenya Prisons volleyball teams’ coaches have been promoted to the ranks of Chief Inspector of Prisons from Inspector.
The trio Prisons women’s volleyball team coach Josp Barasa,former Wafalme Stars and Kenya Prisons men team coach Gideon Chenje,and former Kenya Prisons men’s team coach Paul Muthinja who was also elevated to the position of Chief Inspector.
Away in Mombasa, Mombasa Prison men’s team coach Henry Nyambu was promoted to Inspector from Senior Sergeant.
The trio were elevated to the ranks on Monday in the ceremony that was conducted by Commissioner of Prisons Daris Kangi officer in charge Nairobi West.
The event was held at the Nairobi West Prisons-place play-offs after at Makande hall, in Mombasa over the weekend.
In Mombasa Deputy Regional Commander Joseph Chaka spearheaded the ceremony at the Regional Commander office in Mombasa.
Nyambu who is stationed at Regional Commander office in Coast was humbled with the promotion and gesture saying hard work, discipline and commitment had paid off.
Nyambu was promoted alongside Kaitano Lumbe from athletics.
Mombasa Prisons currently competes in the Kenya Volleyball Federation Men’s Division Two League.
The Coastal side will be in action this weekend when they travel to Nairobi for fixtures against Pamoja Tujijenge on Friday, they tackle KAF on Saturday before they complete their tour with a match against Deaf Volleyball Team on Sunday at the Nyayo National stadium outdoor court,in Nairobi.
Mombasa Prisons are ranked sixth in the 12-team League.
Mombasa Prisons have 10 points from four matches.
At the end of the season the top two teams will earn promotion to the top tier, while the bottom two teams in the National League will be relegated to the lower tier.
