Former Malkia Strikers and KCB Women’s Volleyball Team coach Japheth Munala has admitted that the absence of middle blocker Belinda Barasa left a gap in his squad during the Kenya Volleyball Federation women’s National semi-final play-offs at the Makande hall, in Mombasa.Barasa, a national team player is ill. Munala spoke after the reigning champions KCB surrendered a one set lead to succumb to former champions Kenya Pipeline 3-1 (25-21,23-25,18-25,23-25)to lose out on the final set for June 6-8 at the Moi International Sports Centre indoor arena, Kasarani in Nairobi.Munala said they have a young squad that is expected to do better in the forthcoming seasons.
“Our players average age is 25 and i believe better days awaits us. It’s unfortunate we have surrendered the League title, but we remain hopeful of doing better in the Kenya Cup and future events, “said Munala.
