It’s all systems go as the men and women’s Kenya Volleyball Federation National League semi-finals play-offs takes center stage at the Makande hall, in Mombasa County on Friday through to Sunday.
Up for grabs are the two slots to the finals scheduled for next month in Nairobi.
Four teams in each gender will square it out for a place in the finals.
In the women’s category, defending champion KCB Women’s Volleyball Team will battle former champions and African bronze medalists Kenya Pipeline in one of the semi-finals, while Directorate of Criminal Investigation take on former champions Kenya Prisons in another semis.
Pipeline defeated KCB 3-1 during the Kenya Cup event at Kasarani indoor arena, last month having earlier on reigned supreme over the bankers 3-2 in the regular season.
It therefore remains to be seen if the bankers will return the favor or the Oilers will finish that which they started.
In the other clash pitting DCI against Prisons, it’s a match that could go either way, but Prisons will start as favorite considering their experience in the League and their well-known watertight blocks.
On the flip side, DCI have been in good form having won against Pipeline 3-1 in the regular season.
DCI also beat Prisons 3-2 in the semi-finals of Kipchumba Karori international event in Eldoret last year and so it’s a team that cannot be wished away and can pull surprises in the least expected fashion.
Who will qualify for the finals? It’s a matter of wait and see.
