“Our wins against Kenya Prisons and Kenya Pipeline in recent times has given us morale and we know that with hard work and determination, anything can happen,” those were the words of Directorate of Criminal Investigations coach Patrick Sang ahead of the Kenya Volleyball Federation National League semi-final play-offs that spikes of on Friday to Sunday at the Makande hall, in Mombasa County.
DCI will play Prisons in one of the semi-finals, while defending champions KCB Women’s Volleyball Team will take on Kenya Pipeline in another semis.
The four teams’ event will be played in the best of three series that will see the winners proceed to the finals scheduled for June 5-8 in Nairobi at the Kasarani indoor arena.
DCI beat Prisons 3-2 during the last year’s Kipchumba Karori tournament at the Eldoret Polytechnic in the semifinal before they shocked Pipeline3-1 in the just ended regular season at the Nyayo National stadium.
It is in that backdrop that Sang believes that the time is ripe for the DCI to muscle for the elusive title.
DCI who joined the National League in 2018 have played second fiddle to KCB, Pipeline and Kenya Prisons finishing fourth in the play-offs but Sang said the script should change.
“We have what it takes to battle for the trophy. We have matured and are ready to conquer, “concluded Sang, a former General Service Unit player.
DCI arrived in the Mombasa on Wednesday in time for the play-offs.
