The mother of Janet Wanja, Sarah Mungai, the celebrated Kenya women’s volleyball team, malkia striker trainer who died on December 26,2024 has celebrated Wanja as a unique girl.
Wanja died after a brave battle with gall bladder cancer.
she will be laid to rest on January 3, at Lang’ata Cemetary Nairobi.
In a memorial service held at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani indoor arena, Nairobi on Thursday, Sarah thanked mourners who attended the service.
“Wanja was unique. I remember there was a day she drove me to Nakuru and when i alighted, i forgot to close the car door. On her return, she found youths surrounding her car in a show of guarding the car not to be stolen or perhaps personal items not being stolen. That alone showed how she was loved and valued by the community and people she, came across “recollected Sarah.
