Kenya Volleyball Federation president Charles Nyaberi says the departed Kenya volleyball star Janet Wanja and Jane Wacu drew crowds at the Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani, indoor arena .
Nyaberi was speaking during the memorial service of Wanja at Kasarani on Thursday ahead of the burial on Friday at the Lang’ata Cemetary, Nairobi.
“Before Janet Wanja and Jane Wacu came into the scene, we played in an empty stadium. Their involvement played a pivotal role in marketing volleyball in Kenya.
At one point, the stadium, with a capacity of 6,000, became so full that we had to call the police to help send fans away.”
