Celebrated former Kenya Women’s volleyball team setter Janet Wanja has been diagnosed with gallbladder cancer.
Wanja is undergoing treatment in Nairobi.
In statement released by her brother and former Harambee Star midfielder Kevin Kimani, the statement read in part, “Janet Wanja, a former Malkia Strikers and Kenya Pipeline player has been unwell for the past fourth months. Wanja who was the Malkia Strikers trainer at the Pris 2024 Olympic Games has been diagnosed with gallbladder cancer and is undergoing treatment in Nairobi,” the statement read in part.
“On behalf of the family, we hereby request for your emotional support during this difficult time even as we pray for her quick recovery. We shall give further update on her progress,”
