After the weekend matches at Nyayo National Stadium, Nairobi, former champions Kenya Pipeline moved on top of the Kenya Volleyball Federation women’s National League standing with their coach Geoffrey Omondi saying there was where they belonged.
Omondi who guided the Oilers to come from a set down to beat KCB Women’s Volleyball Team 3-2during the second leg last Friday, said they will go out of their way to ensure they finish the regular season unbeaten and go all the way to reclaim the National League play-offs title.
Pipeline last won the title in 2021.
“There are a lot of things we are trying to introduce to the team and as much as it will take time to work, the end result will be helpful. For example, I have changed some players positions and it is working. A perfect example is a player like Betsy Sifuna, she has been a libero, but when I joined the club,I realized she has the jump and power, I switched her to the outside hitter, a position she is handling really well,” said Omondi who crossed over to oilers from Trailblazers men’s side.
Pipeline lead the standings unbeaten with thirteen points from five matches, while Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and Kenya Prisons are joint second with 12 points although the wardress has inferior set ratio with DCI having a game in hand.
Kenya Army complete the top four positions unbeaten with nine points from three matches.
Defending champions KCB are a distant seven with five points from three matches.
At the bottom end, Lipalikes Volleyball Team and Maranatha are winless from three and five matches in that order respectively.
