Porto hosts the 39th Congress of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB). This major event brings together delegates from member federations from all five continents. Together, they examine the crucial issues for the global development of volleyball.
A total of 218 representatives are expected at this congress. Of these, 193 are effectively participating, with 162 present in person and 14 by proxy. Seventeen members are absent.
Africa shows a strong representation at this congress. Out of the 54 expected delegates from Africa, 43 are participating. Thirty-four are physically present, four have given proxy, and five are absent. The African delegation is led by Mrs. Bouchra Hajij,President of the African Volleyball Confederation (CAVB).
The delegations from other regions are represented as follows:
• Asia: Out of 64 delegates, 57 are present. Forty-one are physically present, eight by proxy, and eight are absent.
• Europe: The European delegation includes 51 participants out of 56. Forty-eight are present, one by proxy, and two are absent.
• NORCECA (North America, Central America, and the Caribbean): Out of 33 members, 31 are participating. Thirty are physically present, one by proxy, and none are absent.
• South America: South America shows full representation of its delegates. Out of 11 representatives, 9 are present and two are absent.
This congress represents a strategic opportunity for the FIVB. It allows for an assessment of past actions and the establishment of new directions for the future. Delegates are mobilizing around the challenges and growth prospects of volleyball, thus strengthening the unity and commitment of key players in our sport.
