Kenyan International Sharon Chepchumba contributed 32 points as her side Hoa Chat Duc Giang Lao Cai held their nerve to see off Binh Chung Thong Tin Eruong Turoi Bin Phuroe 3-2 (26-24, 25-22, 23-25, 25-27, 16-14)
in the Vietnam’s top-tier Volleyball league on Thursday.
Chepchumba who has since recovered from a knee injury signed for the Vietnam side last month from her home team KCB Women’s Volleyball Team.
The hard hitting opposite hitter was drafted in National women’s volleyball team Malkia Strikers as the 13th player during the Paris Olympic Games.
Chepchumba was used sparingly during the Kenya Volleyball Federation National League play-offs in June as KCB won the title at the Kasarani indoor Arena in June.
Before her move to Vietnam, Chepcumba has had stints in Greece with club PAOK and Aris Thessaloniki.
Locally the former Kwanthanze Secondary School player has turned up for Kenya Pipeline and Kenya Prisons though on short stints.
