KCB Women’s Volleyball team coach Japheth Munala says they are in the business of rebuilding and gauging the team after instrumental players ditched them.
Munala was speaking after his side Saturday surrendered a one set lead to succumb to rivals Kenya Pipeline 3-1(22-25,25-22,25-19,25-22) in last pool “B” match of the Governor Mwalimu Kahiga Volleyball Tournament at the Kamukunji grounds in Nyeri County. .
With the loss, KCB finished second in pool “B” and will play Kenya Prisons in one of the semifinal on Sunday who finished top in group “A”.
Another semi-final will pit Pipeline against Directorate of Criminal Investigations who finished second in pool “A”.
Munala was however quick to note that the team will be back at the top after rounds of matches.
“I’m actually happy with the teams performance. They really played well. They surpassed my expectations considering we are rebuilding the team.We lost players and we are keen to get new players from secondary school next year. We need a setter and I believe after two or three Legs, KCB will ba back at the top, where they belong. We have no pressure as we face Kenya Prisons and we hope we will play well,” said Munala.
KCB lost middle blocker Marian Sokoiyo and left attacker Miriam Musa to Pipeline while Sharon Chepchumba is away in Vietnam for professional stint.
Reliable setter Esther Mutinda will not be available for selection this season due to personal reasons.
