National champions KCB Women’s Volleyball Team, who didn’t have fixtures in the just concluded first leg of the Kenya Volleyball Federation National League, have a chance to showcase what they’ve got after they were drawn in pool “B” of the Governor Mwalimu Kahiga Volleyball Tournament that serves off today through to Sunday at the Kamukunji grounds, Nyeri County.
KCB have been grouped alongside rivals Kenya Pipeline,Post Bank and Kenya Army. They didn’t get a chance to play after their would be opponents, Deaf Volleyball failed to show up.
Former champions Kenya Prisons headline pool “A” that also has stubborn Directorate of Criminal Investigations as well as Kenya Defence Forces(KDF). The top two teams in the women’s event will proceed to the semi-final.
In the men’s event top two teams will make their way to the last eight. Kenya Ports Authority,Trailblazers and Kenya Army are in group “A” while KDF and Equity Bank are in pool”B”, General Service Unit and Administration Police of Kenya form pool “C”. Pool “B” and pool “C” will see teams play just to confirm who finish top of the group but they have already qualified for the last eight. National champions Kenya Prisons ,Kenya Airports Police Unit(KAPU) and Rapid Development Unit form pool “D”
The Governor will award cash prizes to the top three teams in each category that have Senior men and women’s team that compete in the National League as well as Self supporting outfits. The top three teams in each category will go home Sh 100,000,Sh 50,000 and Sh 30,000.
