International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) Instructor Javier Bosma said Kenya beach volleyball teams stand a chance to compete at the Los Angeles Olympic Games.
Bosma who was in the country to conduct the FIVB Beach Volleyball Coaching Course at the Nyayo National stadium and Strathmore University ground, Nairobi said the country has talented players who can play at the world stage.
“If everything is put in place, then i see Kenya being at the next Olympic Games in Los Angeles. I have seen potential in these players, and they have what it takes to compete at the Olympics,” said Bosma, a three-time Olympian.
Bosma who is from Spain saw 23 participants pass the theory and practical and were awarded certificates.
Current and former players, coaches and International and National Referee were part of the five-day event.
One of the participant and beach volleyball player Donald Mchete from Mombasa, said the women’s team had set the stage after they participated in the delayed 2020 Olympics, and it was the time for their male counterpart to follow suit.
“We have gained a lot in this Course and i hope to use the knowledge to help upcoming players back at the coast. But all in all, we want to ensure the sport grows far and beyond,”
