Kenya Volleyball Federation men’s National League defending champions Kenya Prisons will be without the services of reliable opposite hitter Elphas Makuto who joined Rwandese side National Police.
At the same time, former champions Kenya Prisons women’s team will also do without the services of promising outside hitter Meldine Sande who also joins National Police.
The Rwanda Volleyball Federation National League served off on October 18 and will come to the end on March 1,2025.
Sande and Makuto sibling to Luke,Asha,Evelyn and Violet left for Rwanda on Tuesday night.
In the absence of Makuto, Prisons coach Denis Mokua is likely to field Michael Chemos who was impressive during the first leg and Mwalimu Kahiga Volleyball Tournament in Nyeri County in a fortnight.
While in the absence of Sande, Prisons tactician Josp Barasa is likely to field to experienced Brackcides Agala who will partner will Pamela Masaisai.
Makuto who partners with Jairus Jepkosgei in beach volleyball joins the growing list of men players who are playing professional.
Others are Enock Mogeni, Brian Melly, Simion Kipkorir, Moses Omondi, Abiud Chirchir and Peter Kamara.
While Sande move to Rwanda brings to four players that have turned professional.
Veronica Adhiambo, Pamela Adhiambo and Sharon Chepchumba are players who are away.
